Effect of probiotic supplementation on wound healing in postoperative patients

Background: Delayed wound healing, particularly in chronic wounds, is a significant global public health issue. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that over 6 million people the United States experience delayed healing annually, resulting healthcare cost of $25 billion USD. Probiotics, known for their anti-inflammatory properties, have potential influencing skin immunity by facilitating transfer cytokines and immune cells from Peyer's patches to skin. Nevertheless, precise impact probiotics on postoperative remains an area with limited research.
 Objective: Determine effectiveness probiotic supplements patients surgical wounds
 Method: Literature search done advanced searching Pubmed, Cochrane, Scopus, EBSCOhost eligibility criteria determined author.
 Results: There were three articles relevant clinical questions had been established, consisting one systematic review article randomized controlled trial (RCT) study two RCT articles. SR/MA includes good-quality studies. showed insignificant results effect administration healing. but confidence level was low articles.
 Conclusion: Probiotic supplementation not conclusive. This can be affected type strain, dosage, duration administration, location wound.
